Following an evaluation of several construction bids we selected Sr. Monteiro and Empreitarte based on their local experience and after checking other projects they had built in the area.Once the house design (4 bedrooms, games room, garage and swimming pool) was finalized we were provided with a detailed construction plan and schedule extending for 14 months - start to finish.A team was formed including Mr. Júlio Monteiro, an architect, a civil engineer and workers. Sub-contractors were also involved (electricians, plumbers, carpenter, etc.) as necessary.During the entire construction period Empreitarte provided us with monthly reports including costs incurred. We were not residing in Portugal during this period and so communications were conducted via SKYPE and e-Mailed photographs. We visited the site 3 or 4 times when personal decisions (fixtures, etc.) had to be made.Throughout this process Empreitarte and the team demonstrated their professionalism. A few adjustments had to be made and these were re-costed and included in the overall project plan.On schedule, 14 months later in May 2015, the house was completed and we were given the keys! There were no unanticipated cost overruns.We cannot speak too highly of Mr. Júlio Monteiro and his team. Since its completion 4 years ago the quality of our house has proven to be excellent.During the 14 months of construction, we were far away living in Macau. It was difficult to visit the construction site regularly to check the materials, completion quality and project progress. In order to keep us informed, the Project Manager sent us photos and videos of the site every week via email.From the pictures and videos, and two personal visits, I found that Empreitarte pays great attention to details, such as the texture and thickness of the sandwich insulation, the waterproof and ventilation treatment of the house base, the surface treatment of the stone and the carpentry, the joints, pipes and tiles, the glass thickness, the excellent finish of the inner and outer wall coatings, etc. And as to some of our requested changes, they always stood on the customer’s side to help us find the best solution.Over more than four years of use, the main building, hot and cold-water system, electric system, air conditioning system, garden irrigation system, pool system and central vacuum system have been stable and reliable. Mr. Júlio Monteiro and his team members have always kept their promises to provide our house with a five-year quality assurance service.
